You may find that your bathroom just doesn’t have enough shelf and storage space. If this is the case, an easy way to add some would be to get a free-standing cabinet. Although wall-mounted models save floor space, free-standing cabinets require no installation, and they generally provide the most storage space. They also have an advantage over shelves: when the cabinet has doors, you can hide the contents of it, which is something you can’t do with a simple shelving unit. Some things, such as towels, are fine for showing, but others, especially in a bathroom, are not.
Here are two examples – both of these are attractive enough to be used in any room of the house, I think:

Depending on your budget, you may want to go with a cabinet that is decorative, rather than solely practical. The cheaper models are simple pantry-like cabinets, often white and devoid of any decoration.
