Bottles can be both practical and decorative. Perhaps you save attractive bottles once they are empty, or perhaps you collect bottles made especially to be displayed. Either way, they are a nice decorative touch in a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom or living-room. When placed on a window sill, sunlight passes through them, creating beautiful colored patterns in the room and changing its entire atmosphere. Not bad for a simple glass container.
I like these – somehow there’s something retro about them:

Of course, decorative bottles can also be used to hold liquids. Some people like to keep their oils in such bottles.
Colored bottles can really be beautiful in a kitchen or in any other room. Depending on their size and on the types of caps they have, colored bottles can either be used to hold flowers, spices, oils, and a variety of other things, or they can be used empty, strictly as decorative items. When placed on a window sill, sunlight comes through the colored glass, an the effect can be quite striking.
How cute are these? I love ’em:

After glass stoppers, cork is arguably the most attractive type of bottle cap.
Once in a while, you come across a product that is sold in a bottle so attractive, that you keep it as a decorative item once the bottle is empty. It can be placed on a window sill, so that sunlight can shine through it (this is especially attractive when using colored bottles), or it can be refilled and used in both a decorative and practical manner. Some even use them in “bottle trees”.
You gotta love these examples – I know I do:

These types of colored, nicely shaped bottles can also be bought empty, giving you a greater choice of shapes and colors than bottled products would. Be careful when ordering on line: check the bottle’s dimensions carefully. Some bottle may be much smaller than they appear in a photograph.
