Beach-themed bedding is popular, and you should be able to find some in a wide variety of prints and patterns. Seashell patterns are a favorite, but you’ll also find beach and ocean scenery, algae, palm trees, sandals, surfboards, fish, tropical flowers and plants or lighthouses. Colors in this style of print are usually green and blues or sometimes beige – in other words, color we associate with the sea, sky and sand.

Usually, seashell bedding is used in rooms that are already beach-themed. This can mean wallpaper, rugs, cushions, art, etc… But of course, it can be used in other decors, as long as the color of the bedding and the rest of the room go well together. Sometimes you may want the theme to be subtle: The room can be decorated in beachy colors, with a couple of throw pillows that feature seashells. Add a picture of a lighthouse on the wall, and you have a established a theme without the risk of overdoing it, pattern-wise. Another way to avoid repetition while keeping with the beach theme is to feature other beach or ocean related elements such as palm leaves or anchors.

Beach bedding tends to come in light colors, so take into account the fact that it will get dirty quicker, and will need to be washed more often than darker sheets. Always follow the manufacturer’s washing instructions for the best results. If you are thinking of getting darker colored bedding, remember that it will absorb light rather than reflect it. This can make the whole room seem darker. One option is to get the bedding in a light color, with a dark repeating pattern.
