If you are planning a picnic, but would like to have the luxury of eating on a table rather than on the ground, then you may want to look into getting a portable table. Of course, since you will be carrying this table, you may like it to be as lightweight as possible. But the lightest folding table actually have a surface made of fabric, so while they are certainly light, they don’t offer as stable a surface as a heavier table can.
Here’s one I like – the wood makes it a bit classy, I think:
